is the theme of the shoot your going to be working on.

Is it fashion,glamour, alternative, pin-up?

This will help you design the hair and makeup for these set's.

If you feel unsure if you can pull it off hire a makeup artist or hair stylist.

A lot of them are both makeup and hair artists.

This would eliminate the need for both of them.

Basically long story short..

Learn basic hair and makeup skills.. 

This will keep you from looking horrible in your shoots.
