Hello
Lovelies!!! Sorry for the delay in
getting this blog to you all but there have been some family issues going on, I
am sure you all know how that goes. So
here is the blog, better late than never.
Today’s blog is undergarments. Hosiery to be specific. Sorry boys, this one does not apply so much
to you as it does to the ladies, but hey, ya never know.
The term hosiery covers a broad range of
products from leggings to pantyhose to socks. Today I am going to focus on what
we Americans call Pantyhose and Thigh Highs.
These are very light weight garments, usually made of nylon with a large
amount of spandex or elastic to them.
They do come In several different weights from opaque tights to sheer
and of course a large number of styles.
Personally I am a big
fan of stockings. These are thigh high hosiery that are usually worn with a
garter belt. There are also now stay up versions of these
stockings that do not require a garter belt because the inside of the top of
the stockings has a band (typically silicone) of elastic or highly
tractive material that resists slipping down the thigh. This style has
drawbacks because there is no consistent sizing for differences in thigh
circumference, resulting in some stockings either falling down or being too
tight, leaving red marks or sometimes causing unsightly bulging. Hence the
reason I prefer the garter belt version since they do not have the large
amounts of elastic in the tight area. I
have found that if I am unable to find standard stockings I will often buy the
stay up version and cut off most of the elastic/silicone portion (and if this
portion Is cut off neatly it works wonderfully in a pinch as a no slip head
band). You just have to be sure to leave enough of the lace area to attach your
garter belt to so as to not run the nylon.
Of course by now we are all familiar with
the control top version of pantyhose. These are a great option for days when
you would like a bit more support. With a bit of searching you can find
pantyhose in a sheer to waist version that is great to wear with shorts and
short skirts so the “control top” portion does not show at the tops of your
legs.
Then there is the fun and flirty option of fishnets and
the many variations on this theme. My favorite being the lace version of these fancy and classy stockings. They are
awesome dressed down with shorts and boots, dressed up with a formal
dress or even worn with vintage styles. They come in a wide variety of patterns
and even fun colors.
The long and short of it is that hosiery is not just for
your mom, work and church any more. There are a ton of fun, fancy, and even festive
options out there for every occasion and every day.
Of course, as with all things be sure to comparison shop
as all of these hosiery options can range vastly in price (heck, I even saw a
pair of the fishnet lace style for well over $100… insane if I do say so, since
I get mine for around $7). But most importantly have fun with your style options. Find your favorite and
what works for you, there a ton of great ideas out there on line or get
creative and come up with your own
style, the options are endlesss
Hugs my Lovelies!!!
